Geriatric Care
There are many problems such as kidney, liver, thyroid, and heart disease, which, if detected early, can be successfully treated and controlled.
Teeth and gum disease seriously impact a pet’s health. Bacteria within the mouth can shed infectious into the blood stream and compromise the other organs. Teeth cleaning performed early can make an amazing difference to a pet’s life.
Small tumors, urinary bladder crystals and stones, anemia, and even internal and external parasites all affect a pet’s health and immune system, and with early diagnosis, treatment is often very easy.
We recommend yearly diagnostic check-ups starting by age 7, and twice a year check-ups starting by age 10 or 11. While we already see most pets yearly for a thorough physical examination with vaccinations, there are many diseases which can only be detected by specialized laboratory testing. This tells us not only what is going on outside the body, but on the inside as well.
We Recommend:
- Thorough physical examination
- Blood work
- Urinalysis
- Stool check
- ECG
- Blood pressure check
After the testing is completed, or at the time of the examination, we will schedule a consultation over the phone to report the results of the exam and make any recommendations to you.
We would be happy to work around your schedule. There will be no extra charge if you want us to board your pet for the day while you work or run errands. We’ll take the tests and you can pick your pet up before closing time.
